XR Newham have joined Newham Climate Collective to form a new group called Newham Climate Action Plan (Newcap). Our plan is to keep tabs on Newham Council’s strategy to come to terms with the climate and ecological emergency and enable Newham as a whole to stay within the Paris Accord. Newcap has had one meeting with councillors Gen Kitchen, James Asser, Nilufa Jahan and their team of officers. Newcap will have regular meetings with the council’s climate emergency team to ensure compliance with the Paris Accord, and to examine the council’s strategy in detail, sector by sector.
